about

"Life, Everyday" is a solo piano album by Aya Sekine, featuring emotionally driven improvisations, original compositions, and arrangements of well-known standards recorded between 2013 and 2018. Serving as a sequel to her 2003 solo piano improvisation album "Inside, Out!", the idea of combining two different recordings into one album emerged in 2019.

The improvisation portion of the album aims to evoke feelings of anxiety, joy, and contemplation, reflecting Sekine's vision of emerging from darkness. In contrast, three compositions showcase Sekine's meticulous craftsmanship as a composer and arranger, intricately weaving her emotions into the music, offering listeners a full spectrum of her artistic vision.

In 2013, the album "Life, Everyday!" was conceptualized and recorded improvisations (tracks 1, 3, 5, 6) in Okayama, Japan. In 2018, an additional three tracks (tracks 2, 4, 7) were recorded in Singapore, comprising two original compositions and an arranged standard.

In May 2020, the album art was finalized, and the album was released during the Circuit Breaker(equivalent of 'lock down') measures.
